Abstract:
Propeller-induced cavitation noise is used for the detection and classification of maritime vehicles. Wideband cavitation noise is traditionally modeled as an amplitude-modulated signal and analyzed with an envelope demodulator. Modeling cavitation noise with cyclostationary random processes has culminated in improved detection levels provided by the envelope spectrum. This study offers a method to improve the envelope spectrum by calculating negative entropy in the dominant frequency bands of cavitation.
