Abstract:
The proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT) app-lications across various domains has raised concerns about the security of wireless communication, particularly against jamming attacks. This paper presents an in-depth analysis of four jamming attack types-constant, random, pulsed, and barrage-on IoT network performance in noisy and noiseless environments. The study focuses on a server-client application using the HTTP protocol. The impact of jamming attacks is evaluated by collecting and analyzing crucial network performance parameters, such as delay, retransmissions, and throughput. The vulnerability of IoT networks is assessed under different attack scenarios created using a Software Defined Radio (SDR) to examine performance degradation in the application and transport layers of wireless networks. The findings of this research indicate that the effectiveness of jamming attacks significantly varies based on attack type and environmental noise levels. This study contributes to a better understanding of IoT security challenges and lays the groundwork for developing robust countermeasures against jamming attacks.
