Abstract:
In this paper, a wireless charging control system for non-terrestrial networks is proposed. In the proposed system, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are charged by a High Altitude Platform Station (HAPS) connected to the network. UAVs periodically send battery status reports to the HAPS they are connected to, and these reports are transmitted to the central controller by HAPS over the 5 G network. The central controller decides which UAV to charge, considering these status reports. The availability performance of the proposed system is compared with the performance of the terrestrial charging system and the resulting gain is analyzed.
