Abstract:

The evolution from a multi-disciplinary approach for engineering and manufacturing development to a transdisciplinary digital engineering ecosystem (DEE) of capabilities is occurring at a rapid rate in the defense industry as the fourth industrial revolution advances. This is creating a confusing array of new digital engineering capabilities with little guidance on how to best develop an implementation strategy that maximizes value for a given program or organizational unit. A digital engineering capability maturity assessment framework (DECMAF) is proposed as a method for creating high value opportunities.
