Abstract:
This qualitative study explored the perceptions and experiences of educational researchers regarding the use of social media in their research studies. Data was collected from 43 participants through open-ended survey questions, employing a maximum variation sampling strategy. The findings revealed varying stances among educational researchers concerning the utilization of social media in support of educational research. Furthermore, disparities in their awareness of the benefits and challenges associated with social media use in educational research are evident. Participants (n =43) also provided recommendations for guidelines aimed at maximizing the benefits and minimizing the challenges of employing social media in educational research. The study advocates for further research to establish a robust framework for utilizing social media in educational research and its findings recommends professional development sessions to disseminate best practices in the field.
