Abstract:
The rapid development of international trade simulates the demand for international transportation, and the so-called intermodal transportation has been paid widely attention for the adoption of containers. This paper proposed a mixed integer linear programming model to design the intermodal transportation lines, and the decisions includes (i) the utilization of ports; (ii) the transportation lines; (iii) the ships allocation to transportation lines. The model is translated into AMPL and solved by Cplex, and a case involving four alternative ports in China and three alternative ports in U.S. is adopted to verify the model. Finally, the sensitive analysis on cost change, demand change and emissions regulation change are demonstrated.
