Abstract:
This paper investigates via simulations the robustness of digital signal processing algorithms used normally in optical communication systems to compensate the combined effect of transmission impairments in optic-THz systems. In addition, we define a novel figure of merit to represent the combined signal-to-noise ratios of the optical link and of the THz link in a single quantity. The simulations are carried out using a 32 GBd m-QAM signal at a frequency of 193.58 THz in the optical domain and at a frequency of 300 GHz in the wireless domain.
