Abstract:

The patch antenna is a critical element in a radio transmission chain which becomes one of the best antenna structures, because of it's low manufacturing cost and compact design and the use of metamaterial structures has been become attractive in the electromagnetic structures community and antenna. In this paper, method is proposed for reducing the inevitable mutual coupling in a two-element Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) antenna network that are extremely close to each other. In order to reduce this coupling, a periodic linear network formed by 4 units square ring resonator (SRR) is inserted between the two ultra wide band (UWB) antennas designed, satisfying the required specifications and obtained from an antenna, based on the introduction of certain modifications. In fact, we have studied the performance of a mass-modified patch antenna consisting of FR-4 which is 25×30×1.6mm3 a type of substrates. The bandwidth ranges from 3 GHz to 18 GHz in which has a bandwidth of about 15GHz. Simulations performances show that the gain in isolation from antennas with metamaterials is superior to 25 dB in the two frequency bands: 3 to 6 GHz and 12 to 13 GHz. This gain is also greater than 10 dB in the rest of the operating frequency band.
