The article reviews current research issues concerning the latest information technologies for effective virtual representation of a Higher Educational Institution, which serve to create its positive informational image in the global world community. The information activities of the university departments and offices are analyzed. The methods identifying university departments with low production capacity are applied. The productivity methods aimed at formation of information resources and the image of a Higher Educational Institution were elaborated. The methods of using excessive information resource of the departments are also elaborated. The procedures which make the release of the Higher Educational Institution out of the informational image generator and preservation of social-informative interface possible are devised. Ratio zones between the fullness and intensity of information activities for virtual community of Lviv Polytechnic National University are defined.
