Abstract:

This paper contributes to evaluation methods to learn the Internet of Things (IoT) system based on embedded software development. In the industry, different fields' engineers have much discussion, since they need to cover the broad knowledge for building one IoT system. The engineers need to have multidisciplinary abilities to collaborate in different fields. For learning such abilities, we should provide opportunities for students from different fields to work collaboratively. For the last 15 years, we have been organizing an education of a robot contest for learning IoT. One goal of this contest is to educate on multidisciplinary abilities. However, the contribution of this program has not been clarified. In a recent work, we briefly introduced an assessment map of multidisciplinary abilities based on the experiences acquired through the education. The map consists of (1) integration ability, (2) performing ability, and (3) cross-understanding ability. The novelty of this work is the evaluation of the education curriculum gained from the contests and its introductory seminars via the assessment map. This paper illustrates the map and evaluates the introductory seminar of the contest.
