Abstract:

This paper discusses TV picture distortion, which is also known as "Sound-in-vision" (SIV). Sound-invision is a well-known design problem. It can be due to cross modulation in the intermediate frequency (IF) stages, or due to power supply problems. Modern TV receivers have high power audio amplifiers, which introduce a new source for this problem. This paper discusses how to detect this new problem and possible solutions. A qualitative overview of SIV is provided, rather than a detailed quantitative analysis in order to make the paper more readable.
