Abstract:

In the last years, the multimedia embedded market has undergone an exceptional growth, demanding at the same time new products or evolutions of exiting ones in very tight time windows. In this paper, we present a proposal which allows developers to build multimedia products in a quick, flexible and efficient manner, helping them to cope with the depicted scenario. We focus specifically in our outgoing work regarding a hardware implementation of a well known standard for multimedia applications: OpenMax. Relaying on the OpenMax standard we assure the usefulness of our proposal. In addition, the hardware nature of the mechanisms and architecture outlined in this article allows achieving improved and easy to obtain implementations of multimedia applications.
