Abstract:

In this article, a high step-up quadratic converter with a single switch is presented by integrating a boost topology as the input stage and a restructured Y-source topology. The proposed converter has all the benefits of the Y-source structure, such as two degrees of freedom, to design a suitable operating point while the duty cycle range is wider. Furthermore, the converter performance is notably enhanced by establishing continuity in the input current, reducing the switch voltage stress along with increasing the voltage gain in comparison with the basic Y-source converter while the common ground between the input and output is maintained. Moreover, the converter provides zero current switching for the switch at turn-on and for all the diodes at turn-off to reduce the reverse recovery problem without any auxiliary circuit. These advantages have contributed to having a proper converter performance along with suitable efficiency. A laboratory prototype is implemented at 300 W and 100 kHz to verify the converter theoretical analysis operation.
