Abstract:
This paper describes how to calibrate a self-calibration decade inductive voltage divider (S-IVD). The S-IVD consists of windings of a decade main divider and nine bifilar windings as an essential standard. A commercial four-terminal-pair (4TP) LCR meter is used to measure the small differential vector voltages of the S-IVD. The voltage measurement does not require injection signals for zero balancing. The S-IVD can be calibrated by obtaining a part in 107 to 105 level uncertainties at 120 Hz to 1 MHz using mostly commercial instrumentation. Another IVD as a device under test (DUT) can be calibrated by 1 : 1 direct comparison using the main divider of the S-IVD and the LCR meter as a differential voltage detector.
