Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to design a torque compensation system with guaranteed performance that allows attitude control of the superconducting rotor, which is spinning at 4.2 K. The torque compensation system includes four pairs of torque-producing superconducting coils. The torques generated by the torque-producing coils are calculated using numerical analysis method. This paper presents an approach to design a torque compensation system that is used to erect the rotor prior to and during spinup, and then is also used to develop error compensation torques.
