Abstract:

In this paper the problem of direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation for conformal antenna arrays consisting of directive emitters for the azimuth and elevation cases is studied. The expression for the Cramer-Rao lower bound of the DOA estimates variance depending on the antenna directivity and the geometry is presented. The boundaries of the Cramer-Rao are evaluated across several scenarios, including the different signal sources locations in terms of the azimuth and elevation angles and signal-to-noise ratios using different antenna array configurations. The influence of the cylindrical conformal antenna array on the direction-of-arrival estimation accuracy is researched.
