Abstract:
The link performance for the future DA2GC (Direct Air to Ground Communications) using the technology enabler LTE advanced has been investigated by considering the interference coordination between the neighboring LTE base stations for different eNB (eNodeB or evolved NodeB) base station antennas. The final goal of the effort is to achieve a stable and optimum overall coverage for the typical flight heights with certain required datarates. The effect of the Interference Coordination (IC) and Resource Block (RB) reuse has also been investigated. The link performance can be significantly improved by using proper interference coordination schemes and scheduling, but also by using some antenna radiation patterns and proper uptilt angles. For this purpose a theoretically optimum antenna radiation pattern for certain network parameters, without interference consideration, is designed as optiomization target which can be implemented by using antenna array beam forming techniques commonly known in the antenna engineering approximately.
