Paper sumo, or “kamizumo”, is a game that uses generations-old paper craft to simulate sumo wrestling. Traditionally, players hit the sides of a small stage with their hands to make vibrations, causing one's paper sumo wrestler to move around and push the other off the stage. In this research, we developed `SUMMO SONIC', which enhances paper sumo by vibrating the stage using sound instead of hand strikes. With `SUMMO SONIC', we also enable effective animation using a universal serial bus (USB) camera installed above the stage, a projector, and augmented reality (AR) markers for the paper sumo wrestlers. In this paper, we test `SUMMO SONIC' at a children's event and describe the findings.
