Abstract:

In CDMA, resource allocation is a task critical to the performance of this inherently interference limited multiple access technique. This paper also presents the solution to the problem of optimal resource allocation to resolve interference-generated congestion for an arbitrary set of real-time source encoders and shows that this problem could be viewed as the one of statistical multiplexing in source-adapted CDMA. Based on this, we develop optimal algorithms to solve the allocation problem. Simulations using MPEG4 FGS video shows that the proposed systems significantly outperforms systems with no adaptation, being able to support more than three times the number of calls while the quality degrades gracefully.
