Abstract:
The next generation cellular networks are predicted to face the challenge of massive data transmission originated from Machine Type Communication (MTC) devices with limited communication resources. The main objective of this paper is to reduce communication resources consumption in acceptable transmission latency for massive data generated from MTC devices. As an attempt to solve this challenge, a Batch Latency Update (BLU) scheme is proposed in this paper. In BLU, instead of transmitting data immediately, the devices cache the collected data and compress them before transmitting to the Operator or Internet Service Provider (ISP) periodically. We use the Calling Data Records (CDRs) of mobile devices collected from Telecommunication Operator in China to analyze the performance of BLU scheme. The results demonstrate that the proposed scheme outperforms the current Each Time Update scheme by evaluating the communication consumption of the mobile devices.
