Abstract:
This work aims to analyze the effect of signaldependent noise (SDN) on sliding-correlation synchronization calculation in visible light communication. According to the data composition in the sliding-correlation window, we divide the synchronization process into three cases, and then derive the mean and variance of the correlation values in the three cases. The mean-squared error (MSE) upper bound is derived by Gaussian approximation. The simulation results show that the synchronization performance becomes better as the proportion of symbol “0” in the synchronization sequence increases. The synchronization performance can be influenced by the SDN coefficient. Finally, we present two criteria to select the synchronization sequence based on the minimization of MSE upper bound and the minimization of simulated MSE, respectively. The results of the two criteria are very close.
