Abstract:

Time delay estimation (TDE) is an important topic in cooperative diversity system. In this paper, a new method for time delay estimation of HF fading signal in α-stable distribution noise environments is provided. A fading signal processing model in impulsive noise environments is discussed in the paper, and a new TDE algorithm based on theory of α-stable distribution is also developed. Computer simulation results show that algorithm is robust for both Gaussian and non-Gaussian impulsive noise environments. Compared with the fractional lower order covariance (FLOC) and correlation TDE methods, the improved performance is also demonstrated through comprehensive simulation with computer-generated data.
