Abstract:

This paper proposes a peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction scheme dedicated to our previously conceptualized spectrum superposing approach enabled by subcarrier transmission power assignment (STPA) with blind adaptive array (BAA). Due of the development of broadband mobile communication, spectrum resource is exhausting especially in microwave band. One of the promising solution is seen as the spectrum sharing in a spatial domain, i.e. spectrum superposing. STPA-BAA enables to expand the co-existence region of two OFDM-based wireless communication systems. Here, OFDM originally contains a drawback known as PAPR enhancement and it is influential especially for STPA which dynamically changes subcarrier power densities. Exploiting the STPA feature, our key proposal is to apply the selected mapping (SLM) only to high-level subcarriers. The number of high-level subcarriers is fewer than the low-level ones, therefore PAPR reduction can be attained with reduced computation complexity. Its effectiveness is presented through computer simulations.
