Abstract:
In this contribution an efficient channel parametrization to model frequency selective time variant MIMO channels is proposed. The channel parametrization maintains the correlation properties of the channel in frequency, time, and space unaltered. Moreover, it exploits this correlation in order to reduce the parameters needed to fully describe the channel. The proposed model can be exploited in several applications such as efficient channel estimation techniques for multicarrier systems, transmit beamforming schemes, and the modelling of frequency selective time variant MIMO channels with a low complexity. In order to assess the validity of the model we parametrize synthetic as well as measured channels. We evaluate the error between the channel matrix and the one reconstructed from the parameters, as well as the error in the bit error rate curves obtained from the the two data sets.
