Abstract:

Medium distance transmission is absolute for the application of high-power signal transmission where multimode fiber (MMF) is a more cost-effective choice over single-mode optical fiber. This study presents an optimized approach that successfully demonstrates a state-of-the-art technology known as multi-level multiplexing, which combines wavelength division multiplexing and mode division multiplexing for a mediumdistance communication scheme over multimode fiber spanning 100km. The system achieved a transmission capacity of 5.4Tbps using 40 WDM channels while preserving signal quality and optimal power levels in the output. The goal is to demonstrate a new strategy that can considerably improve transmission capacity while maintaining signal quality. Bit error rate, Q factor, and eye diagram are discussed for concluding and comparing the transmission quality.
