Abstract

It is safe to say that no one knew what to expect when approximately 15 non-Soviet and 75 Soviet computer professionals gathered for a week-long workshop at the International Center for Scientific and Technical Information (ICSTI) in Moscow. As it unfolded, the 50 paper presentations and 25 product and prototype demos were overshadowed for many of us by the numerous opportunities for individual and group contact. In the end, all of those polled for this report (including about two-thirds of the non-Soviets) strongly favored planning another workshop and hoped to attend.
