Abstract
The central question addressed in this paper is whether a content delivery network (CDN)needs to deploy its servers in a large number of locations to achieve its current levels of performance. Our study indicates that a relatively small number of consolidated data centers might provide similar performance to end-users. or over 30%of the total 34,000 servers claimed by Akamai during the study period, were pingable.

Secure content delivery in information-centric networks: design, implementation, and analyses
ICN '13: Proceedings of the 3rd ACM SIGCOMM workshop on Information-centric networkingIn this paper, we propose a novel secure content delivery framework, for an information-centric network, which will enable content providers (e.g., Netflix and Youtube) to securely disseminate their content to legitimate users via content distribution ...
A cooperative content delivery scheme for multimedia services in contents delivery networks
ICUIMC '08: Proceedings of the 2nd international conference on Ubiquitous information management and communicationContents Delivery Networks (CDNs) have been introduced to deliver efficiently very large content to user with low cost. For this, various content delivery schemes such as the uncooperative pull-based scheme, the cooperative push-based scheme, and the ...
Revisiting caching in content delivery networks
SIGMETRICS '14: The 2014 ACM international conference on Measurement and modeling of computer systemsContent Delivery Networks (CDNs) differ from other caching systems in terms of both workload characteristics and performance metrics. However, there has been little prior work on large-scale measurement and characterization of content requests and ...
