Abstract

Following the success of the past symposia in this series, this year's Middleware Doctoral Symposium (MDS) continued to serve as a forum for doctoral students to present their work and obtain guidance from senior researchers in the field, from either academia or industry, as well as to provide contact with other students at a similar stage in their careers. The goal of the symposium is to expose students to helpful feedback on their current work and to foster discussions related to possible future directions and focus.

The symposium consisted of a keynote speech, sessions of PhD paper presentations, informal discussions, and a mini-panel between the presenter, a mock thesis committee and the audience, led by the session chair, and a panel of distinguished researchers discussing open problems and future research directions in the field.
