Improved image encryption technique using multi chaotic system

Published:21 December 2010Publication History

ABSTRACT

This study establishes a new algorithm to perform chaos-based encryption over digital images. Gray-scaled images were used for experimental analysis of the algorithm. The proposed algorithm begins with the Extended Arnold's Chaotic Map (Extended-ACM) to shuffle the source image, which does not only permute the pixel coordinates but also modifies the corresponding intensity values using values from chaotic sequence. The shuffled image is then ciphered with Chen's Chaotic System (CCS). The CCS's trajectory values are computed by fractional order method. Comparing with the existing similar encryption techniques, particularly, Guan et al. and Xiao D. et al., it is noticed that the proposed technique presents more significant results. Moreover, the experimental analysis evidently supports the concluded remarks.
