ABSTRACT
Volcano Salvation is an innovative computer game that combines two input modalities: hand gestures to lift, move, and manipulate objects, and head tracking to change perspective within the game world. The two input devices are a webcam and a Leap Motion controller. Volcano Salvation is an immersive strategy game that contributes to the field of game design by offering players novel challenges that require coordinating complex head and hand orientations, which it achieves through the game's unique use of these two touchless input devices.

Volcano Salvation In order to play Volcano Salvation you will need a webcam and a Leap Motion device (www.leapmotion.com). INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS: To get you started, you must first install the FaceAPI toolkit. Go to www.faceapi.com/Download/downloads.php, and download the Non-Commercial faceAPI executable. Find the executable you just downloaded, double-click to launch the installer and follow the on-screen instructions. After installing the toolkit, locate Socket.exe, under the Streamer folder, and double-click to launch the streamer needed for the webcam recognition. Note that you must launch this streamer every time you play the game. Leap Motion To setup the Leap Motion device, simply connect your device to your computer through a USB port. If it's your first time connecting the device, please go to www.leapmotion.com/setup to set it up easily. Find VolcanoSalvationGame.exe and double-click to launch the game.
