Tackling Ethical Implications of Mobile Banking Product Development Through the Value Sensitive Design Approach

Published:26 October 2020Publication History

ABSTRACT

This paper proposes to examine if design processes for Mobile Banking (MB) products can benefit from drawing on Value Sensitive Design (VSD) approach and discuss applying VSD values to Mobile Banking. We conducted an exploratory study asking industry professionals and customers (MB users) to validate the appropriateness of VSD approach for MB design processes. The need for a more ethical approach was established and a list of most applicable values (with Ethical Import) is created for further research iterations and possible practical application in the Mobile Banking domain.
