ABSTRACT
A three dimensional fluid-structure interaction model (FSI) of fuel filter is built with unsteady low-speed flow neglected. The FSI building procedures and principle are introduced in detail. The FSI model is verified by comparing simulation modal outcomes with those from modal testing. The results of modal shapes and eigenvalues are calculated with different boundary. Engine fuel has great effect on fuel filter modal shape and frequency, which reduces the first modal frequency by 50Hz. Fuel pressure and temperature have a little impact on modal frequency. After FSI topology optimization, the first modal frequency of fuel filter structure rises to 62Hz, and vibration peak reduces by 5.5m/s2 while vehicle runs on Belgium road, which meets reliability requirement.
