Echocardiographic Evaluation of Anterior Mitral Valve Aneurysm Without Infective Endocarditis
Mitral valve aneurysm (MVA) is un-common and occurs most commonly as a complication of infective endocarditis. Early diagnosis and surgical treatment are of great importance. In this study, we reported a 30-year-old man with anterior MVA in the A2 scallop without concurrent infective
endocarditis, which was recognized by preoperative real-time three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography (RT-3D-TEE) and confirmed at operation with mitral valve replacement. This study presented a rare condition, and valuated the potential application of RT-3D-TEE in MVA diagnosis.
