Non-Invasive Assessment of Left Internal Mammary Artery Patency Using Transluminal Attenuation Gradient
Objective: This study aimed to discuss the value of using dual-source computed tomography (CT) to calculate the transluminal attenuation gradient (TAG) and TAG with corrected contrast opacification (TAG-CCO) and quantitatively evaluate left internal mammary artery (LIMA) patency.
Method: A total of 32 patients accepting coronary artery bypass grafting were continuously assessed and examined by computed tomography angiography (CTA) of the LIMA before operation. TAG, TAG-CCO, and transluminal diameter gradient (TDG) were then calculated. Blood flow velocity in
the LIMA was measured during the operation, and correlation analysis was carried out. Results: TAG, TAG-CCO, and TDG presented significantly positive correlations with blood flow velocity in the LIMA (r = 0.48 r = 0 56 and r = 0.65 respectively, p < 0.05).
Conclusion: The greater the absolute values of TAG and TAG-CCO, the lower the blood flow velocity in the LIMA; thus, evaluating LIMA patency presents a certain clinical value.
