Abstract
The challenges of the digital interface facing the users of applications are coined by service quality and usability. The goal is to generate added value for the user, who therefore is the central element of the reflection. The experience that is delivered by interacting with a digital application is of great relevance and called Digital Customer Experience (DCX).
Looking at the specific customer touch point, there are different approaches to generate an integrated user experience. In the museum application domain they vary from static information panels to mobile applications. Those apps are huge drivers for the success of multi-media strategies of cultural historical institutions.
Especially in the context of museums it is necessary to consider the different perspectives simultaneously and to provide digital customer experience over multiple levels. The overall process includes the acquisition and capturing of data within the institution and spans over to the creation and delivery of content to scientists, curators and visitors alike via digital interfaces.
The possibility to create (mobile) applications for the visitor, as well as for internal use, for instance data management tools, are to be designed in a manner that the specific user of those tools is able to use them in a controlled environment, without being confronted with complex data structures, listings or other technical details. That interlinking along the development process is to be described as the “Customer Experience Value Chain”.
