Abstract

Digital transformation in business consulting and the virtualization of consulting services are based on the targeted use of information and communication technologies. Until now, however, there has been a lack of suitable methods and tools to make the right choice from a bundle of possible technologies for the consulting process to be virtualized. This means that a decisive component to support virtualization projects in consulting practice is missing. Based on a literature review, the use of Quality Function Deployment (QFD) and the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) as well as the analysis of existing virtualization initiatives, a tool-supported method is being designed to help business consultancies determine appropriate technologies for the virtualization of their own consulting services. The method is first derived and then presented in six steps. A demonstrative case study illustrates the use and benefits of this method.
