Abstract: Computer networks have an increasingly important societal role, requiring them to be resilient to a range of challenges. For a network to be resilient, it should be accompanied by a state-of-the-art monitoring system which should not only be tailored to the requirements of the network, but should also be able to provide real-time network-wide visibility. Besides resilience, a network should also be power-efficient. For this purpose, we propose to combine an IP-based resilient SDN framework with a power-efficient PS-LTE network. With this combination, data communication can still be made possible in case of disaster occurrence. In this paper, we aim to focus on: 1) sFlow monitoring system that is required to make our SDN-based framework resilient against disasters; 2) power-efficient PS-LTE network. Our goal is also to trigger more profound discussion on combining SDN-based framework with power-efficient PS-LTE network.
