Abstract
Abstract
For the development of automatic arterial blood flow control during extracorporeal circulation (ECC) a model is developed, which can be divided into the subsystems heart-lung machine (HLM) and vascular system. Two vascular compartment models of varying complexity and described by the linearized Navier–Stokes equations are compared to each other. A rotary blood pump is modeled as the actuator. A discrete PI-controller is robustly tuned regarding parameter uncertainties. The PI-controller shows stability and good performance in simulation studies (MATLAB/SIMULINK) and in tests on a hydrodynamic circulation simulator.
