Abstract:
Currently, interactive activities, such as hands-on displays and multitouch tabletops, are utilized in formal/ informal learning settings. Such activities aim to engage K-12 students in science-learning activities, through which scientific thinking is cultivated and multisensory artistic experiences are indulged into. Such facilities serve as means for teaching the structure and function of plant cells using advanced technologies, which forgoes the use of living cells. This work-in-progress development project describes a mechanism for visualizing the structure and function of plant cells using state-of-the-art 3D printer and immersive virtual reality as methods for teaching plant cell biology among K-12 students.
