This research study has explored a novel privacy-preserving dynamic consent management mechanism based on blockchain technology and smart contracts for the secondary use of Electronic Medical Records. The solution enables Data Subjects to actively participate in the consent management process by dynamically managing consent preferences and decisions. It has also explored the feasibility of implementing a transparent and unified consent management infrastructure, where all key stakeholders can collaboratively determine access to data. This research study has contributed to both knowledge and practice through its empirical findings on the suitability of blockchain-based solutions and their socio-technical impact on healthcare.
