Abstracts:
Optical communication channels over long distances have always been
plagued by coherence loss and attenuation. This seriously compromises
their use for quantum communication. Now, researchers from Innsbruck and
Harvard have found a new and efficient way to stretch these quantum
channels by using entangled atomic ensembles.
