This paper shows the applicability of SystemC for the development of a single master-multi slave protocol in the industrial automation domain. Specifically SystemC was used in the development of the communication stack and modeled certain hardware modules which are critical for the timing of the stack. Using his technique we were able to debug the stack early in the development process and to significantly reduce the effort for integration testing and debugging.
