The assessment of the physical condition of the user in a sport facility is a vital part of what is called personalised sports advising. This process consists in advising the users of the sport facility in choosing the most appropriate type of exercise given their condition and their circumstances. The main problem that we face here is the instructor/users ratio. We try to cope with that problem by improving the information management rather than making the service more expensive (our sport facilities are supported with public funds, and that means public fees). An intelligent system, designed as a Constraint-Satisfaction Problem (CSP), has been developed to address this issue. This system takes into account the constraints of the problem (availability of the user, preferences, physical capabilities, etc.) and use them to construct a work plan. In order to simplify the CSP we introduced ‘objectives’ in the interview with the user, that is, the user guided by the instructor selects the objective that defines the physical state that he/she wants to achieve. The selected objective has valuable information that makes the functioning of the CSP less complex.
