Foreword: This volume contains the proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Computer-Human Interaction Research and Applications (CHIRA 2019), held in Vienna, Austria 20 – 21 September, 2019. CHIRA is sponsored by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC) and co-organized by the Technische Universität Wien. CHIRA is held in cooperation with the ACM Special Interest Group on Management Information Systems and the Association for Information Systems - Human-Computer Interaction (AIS SIGHCI). The purpose of CHIRA is to bring together professionals, academics and students who are interested in the advancement of research and practical applications of human-technology & human-computer interaction. Different aspects of Computer-Human Interaction were covered in five parallel tracks: Human Factors and Information Systems, Pervasive Technologies and Applications, Interactive Devices, Interaction Design and Adaptive and Intelligent Systems. In addition to paper presentations, the CHIRA’s program included three keynote talks delivered by internationally distinguished speakers: Helmut Windl, Panasonic Automotive Systems Europe GmbH, Germany, Kristina Höök, Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden and Pietro Cipresso, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Italy. The conference program also contains a tutorial on “Method-Mix for the Development of Intercultural User Interfaces” lectured by Rüdiger Heimgärtner (Intercultural User Interface Consulting (IUIC), Germany). CHIRA received 36 paper submissions from 23 countries, of which 19% were accepted as full papers. The high quality of the papers received imposed difficult choices during the review process. To evaluate each submission, a double blind paper review was performed by the Program Committee, whose members are highly qualified independent researchers in the CHIRA topic areas. All presented papers will be submitted for indexation by Thomson Reuters Conference Proceedings Citation Index (CPCI/ISI), DBLP, EI (Elsevier Engineering Village Index), Scopus, Semantic Scholar and Google Scholar as well as being made available at the SCITEPRESS Digital Library. We express our thanks to all participants. First to all the authors, whose quality work is the essence of this conference; secondly to all members of the Program Committee and auxiliary reviewers, who helped us with their expertise and valuable time. We also deeply thank the invited speakers for excellent contributions in sharing their knowledge and vision. We wish you all an inspiring conference and an unforgettable stay in Vienna, Austria. We hope to meet you again next year for the 4th edition of CHIRA, details of which will soon be available at http://www.chira.scitevents.org/. (More)
