Foreword: This book contains the proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Sensor Networks (SENSORNETS 2021), which was sponsored and organized by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC) and held in cooperation with the International Frequency Sensor Association (IFSA). This year SENSORNETS was, exceptionally, held as a web-based two-day event during February 9-10, 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Conference Program includes oral presentations (full papers and short papers) organized in three tracks: “Sensor Networks and Architectures”, “Intelligent Data Analysis and Processing for Sensor Networks” and “Sensor Networks Applications”. Furthermore, the plenary program includes 2 plenary keynote lectures, given by Prof. Symeon Papavassiliou (National Technical University of Athens, Greece) and by Prof. Fabrizio Granelli (Università degli Studi di Trento, Italy). SENSORNETS 2021 received 27 paper submissions from more than 14 countries. To evaluate each submission, a double-blind paper review was performed by the Program Committee, whose members were carefully selected and are highly qualified researchers in SENSORNETS topic areas. Based on the provided classifications, 7 papers were selected as full papers which led to a full paper acceptance ratio of 25.9%. This strict acceptance ratio shows the intention to preserve a high-quality forum which we expect to develop further next year. All papers presented at this conference will be available at the SCITEPRESS Digital Library. The SENSORNETS conference series intends to be a meeting place where information exchange occurs and where collaboration projects emerge from social contacts amongst the participants. Attracting and dissemination is one of the key goals of the conference. To contribute to achieve this goal, first level keynotes were invited. Furthermore, to motivate authors to submit scientific and technical research results, the SENSORNETS Conference awards the best regular paper and the best student paper. A short list of authors will be selected and invited to submit extended revised versions of their papers for a book that will be published by Springer with the best papers of SENSORNETS 2021. A short list of papers presented at the SENSORNETS will also be selected for publication of extended and revised versions in a special issue of Springer Nature Computer Science Journal. We would like to express our thanks to all participants, and particularly to the authors, whose quality works provide the essence of this conference. Secondly, we owe gratitude to all members of the Program Committee and auxiliary reviewers, who helped us with their expertise and valuable time. We would also like to deeply thank the invited speakers for the excellent contribution in sharing their knowledge and vision. Finally, we gratefully acknowledge the professional support of the INSTICC team for all organizational processes, especially given the need to introduce online streaming, forum management, direct messaging facilitation and other web-based activities in order to make it possible for authors to present their work and share ideas with colleagues in spite of the logistic difficulties caused by the current pandemic situation. We hope that the papers accepted and included in the proceedings will be helpful references in future works for all those who need to address topics in any of the SENSORNETS knowledge areas. We wish you all an inspiring conference and we hope to meet you next year for SENSORNETS 2022, details of which will soon be available at http://www.sensornets.org. (More)
