Foreword: This book contains the proceedings of the 18th International Conference on Security and Cryptography (SECRYPT 2021), which was sponsored and organized by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC). This year, SECRYPT 2021 was held as an online web-based event, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, on 6 - 8 July, 2021. SECRYPT seeks submissions from academia, industry, and government presenting novel research on all theoretical and practical aspects of data protection, privacy, security, and cryptography. Papers describing the application of security technology, the implementation of systems, and lessons learned are also encouraged. Papers describing new methods or technologies, advanced prototypes, systems, tools and techniques and vision papers indicating future directions are also encouraged. Furthermore, the conference program includes 3 plenary keynote lectures, given by Prof. Ravi Sandhu (University of Texas San Antonio, United States), Prof. V. S. Subrahmanian (Dartmouth College, United States), and Prof. Jaideep Vaidya (Rutgers Business School, United States). In response to the call for papers, SECRYPT has received 163 papers in total, with contributions from 43 different countries in all continents, confirming the success and global dimension of SECRYPT 2021. To evaluate each submission, a double-blind paper evaluation method was used: each paper was reviewed by at least three experts from the International Program Committee in a double-blind review process. The selection process followed strict criteria. So, only 30 papers were accepted and orally presented at SECRYPT as full papers (18% of submissions) and 28 as short papers (17% of submissions). The program also includes 34 poster presentations. With this acceptance ratio, SECRYPT 2021 continues the tradition of previous editions as a distinguished and high-quality conference. We would like to express our thanks to all colleagues involved in supporting the conference. Our thanks go to the members of the Program Committee and the external reviewers, for all their hard work in the paper evaluation. A special thanks goes to the keynote speakers, who accepted our invitation to deliver keynote talks at the conference, sharing their vision, knowledge and research outcomes. Thanks to all the authors who submitted papers and all the conference’s attendees. Last but certainly not least, we gratefully acknowledge the professional support of the INSTICC team for all organizational processes, especially given the need to introduce online streaming, forum management, direct messaging facilitation and other web-based activities in order to make it possible for SECRYPT 2021 authors to present their work and share ideas with colleagues in spite of the logistic difficulties caused by the current pandemic situation. We hope you find the program of SECRYPT 2021 interesting and inspiring for your future research, and offering helpful references in future works. We wish you all a constructive conference and we hope to meet you next year for SECRYPT 2022, with the hope that the pandemic will be well beyond us and we can meet in person. Details for the next edition will soon be available at http://www.secrypt.org/ (More)
