Foreword: This book contains the proceedings of the 11th International Conference on Sensor Networks (SENSORNETS 2022), which was sponsored and organized by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC). The 2022 edition of SENSORNETS is to be held as a web-based two-day event during February 7-8, 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Conference Program includes oral presentations (full papers and short papers) organized in three tracks: “Sensor Networks and Architectures”, “Intelligent Data Analysis and Processing for Sensor Networks” and “Sensor Networks Applications”. Furthermore, the plenary program includes 3 plenary keynote lectures, given by Prof. Luca Mottola (Politecnico di Milano, Italy), Prof. Biplab Sikdar (University of Singapore, Singapore) and Prof. Niki Trigoni (University of Oxford, United Kingdom), respectively. This year, the SENSORNETS conference is also enriched by the special session on Energy-Aware Wireless Sensor Networks for IoT chaired by Prof. Olfa Kanoun and Dr.-Ing Sabrine Kheriji. SENSORNETS 2022 received 43 paper submissions from more than 22 countries, including special sessions. To evaluate each submission, a double-blind paper review process was performed by the Program Committee, whose members were carefully selected and are highly qualified researchers in SENSORNETS topic areas. Based on the provided classifications, 11 papers were selected as full papers which led to a full paper acceptance ratio of 25%. This strict acceptance ratio shows the intention to preserve a high-quality forum which we expect to develop further next year. All papers presented at this conference will be available in the SCITEPRESS Digital Library. The SENSORNETS conference series intends to be a meeting place for information exchange and discussion upon which collaborative projects may emerge from social interactions amongst the participants. Attracting participants and disseminating novel research is one of the key goals of the conference. To contribute to this goal, prominent keynote speakers were invited. Furthermore, to motivate authors to submit scientific and technical research results, the SENSORNETS Conference awards the best regular paper, best student paper and best poster. A short list of authors will be selected and invited to submit extended revised versions of their papers for a book that will be published by Springer with the best papers of SENSORNETS 2022. Furthermore, some will be invited to extend their papers for inclusion in a special issue of Springer Wireless Networks Journal. We would like to express our thanks to all participants, and particularly to the authors, whose quality works provide the essence of this conference. Secondly, we owe gratitude to all members of the Program Committee and auxiliary reviewers, who helped us with their expertise and valuable time. We would also like to deeply thank the invited speakers for their outstanding contributions in sharing their knowledge and vision. Finally, we gratefully acknowledge the professional support of the INSTICC team for all organizational processes, especially given the need to introduce online streaming, forum management, direct messaging facilitation and other web-based activities in order to make it possible for authors to present their works and share ideas with colleagues in spite of the logistic difficulties caused by the current pandemic situation. We hope that the papers accepted and included in the proceedings will be helpful references in future works for all those who need to address topics in any of the SENSORNETS knowledge areas. We wish you all an inspiring conference and we hope to meet you next year for SENSORNETS 2023, details of which will soon be available at https://sensornets.scitevents.org/. (More)
