Foreword: This book contains the proceedings of the 20th International Conference on Security and Cryptography (SECRYPT 2023) held in Rome, Italy from 10– 12 July, 2023. SECRYPT is sponsored and organized by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC). SECRYPT seeks submissions from academia, industry, and government presenting novel research on all theoretical and practical aspects of data protection, privacy, security, and cryptography. Papers describing the application of security technology, the implementation of systems, and lessons learned are also encouraged. Papers describing new methods or technologies, advanced prototypes, systems, tools and techniques and vision papers indicating future directions are also encouraged. In response to the call for papers, SECRYPT has received 169 papers in total, with contributions from 39 different countries in all continents, confirming the success and global dimension of SECRYPT 2023. To evaluate each submission, a double-blind paper evaluation method was used: each paper was reviewed by at least three experts from the International Program Committee in a double-blind review process. The selection process followed strict criteria. So, only 22 papers were accepted for oral presentation at SECRYPT as full papers (13% of submissions) and 35 as short papers (20% of submissions). The program also includes 41 poster presentations. The conference program also includes 2 plenary keynote lectures, given by Prof. Rigo Wenning (ERCIM, France) and Prof. Edgar Weippl (University of Vienna, SBA Research, Austria). A successful conference involves more than presentations. It is also a meeting place, where ideas about research directions, new research projects, and other ventures are discussed and debated. Therefore, a social event including a conference dinner/banquet has been planned for evening of July 11th to promote this kind of social networking. We would like to express our thanks to all colleagues who contributed time and effort to put together the conference program. Our thanks go to the members of the Program Committee and the external reviewers, for all their hard work in the paper evaluation. A special thanks goes to the keynote speakers, who accepted our invitation to deliver keynote talks at the conference, sharing their knowledge and vision.
