Abstract
This paper compares different high-level modeling approaches for real-time embedded systems design: an object-oriented approach using UML diagrams against the block diagram approach provided by Simulink. This investigates the facilities provided by both approaches for expressing system requirements and functional specification. A Crane Control System is used as a case study for conducting the proposed comparison.
