Abstract
In this paper, we address the big picture of developing HCI in a global context. We focus on India and reflect on the activities of the Indo-European Systems Usability Partnership, an EU funded project linking the British HCI Group with the Computer Society of India and supported by three European universities. We focus on the themes of interaction design and user centred systems design and their place in the Indian context. We conclude with our views of what is needed next for HCI in India and on global HCI from an Asian perspective.
